The Converse All Star was created in 1915 by the “Converse Rubber Shoe Company” which was specialized in the manufacture of rubber hooves carried in particular by the prisoners of the American penitentiary centers. At the time, it will be called “A11 Star” and designed for the practice of tennis and basketball.

In 1921, Converse called on the Chuck Taylor basketball player to promote its new model in American universities. He will organize several demonstration tours on American campuses with the company team, the All Stars. These demonstrations met with such success that the model will be renamed “All Star” in reference to this team.

It was not until 1932 that Converse will again renamed the model in “Chuck Taylor All Star” in thanks to the player who made the company renown. The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star will then equip the majority of basketball players until the late 1960s.

The emblematic Converse also knew how to win outside the basketball terrains in 1950 thanks to actor Jeams Dean who will carry them in the film “The Fury of Living”. But it was not really in 1969 with death Chuck Taylor that the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star will establish itself as the timeless reference sneakers that it is today.

She will also make her way to the music scene. It was carried by big names of music like Elvis Presley, the members of the Rolling Stones and The Who or Kurt Cobain who helped make her an icon.

Despite the brand's success in the 2000s, sales fell.
