It was in 1915 that the Converse All Star was created by the company "Converse Rubber Shoe". She was specialized at the time in the rubber hooves that was made to have them carried, among other things, by the prisoners of America. It is for tennis and basketball players that the first All Star in history, called "A11 Star", was created.
A few years later, in 1921, it was the basketball player Chuck Taylor who will lend his image to promote the A11 Star. He will pass with the company team (the All Stars) in different American universities for demonstrations on campuses. The success of these tours will cause the change of name of the "A11 Star" model by "All Star", in reference to this team.
The name of this model will change once again, ten years later, as a thank you to the basketball player who will have made this model that will then be called "Chuck Taylor All Star". Until the late 1960s, a large part of basketball players were equipped with Converse Chuck Taylor All Star.
Having become famous, the Star model of Converse was able to charm hearts outside the sports fields as well. We are thinking in particular of actor James Dean who carries these sneakers in the film "La Fury de Vivre" in 1950. The model will become a reference and is established as the timeless reference basketball in 1969, on the death of the basketball player Chuck Taylor. Other celebrities have helped make Chuck Taylor All Star a real icon. Indeed, we will see it at the feet of Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, members of the Rolling Stones or The Who.
The years pass and the brand is bought in 2003 by Nike which offers to put its know-how at the service of the Chuck Taylor All Star whose sales fell in the 2000s. The Chuck Taylor All Star II then appeared in 2016, more comfortable and more resistant.
